UNICEF RRSA

Here at Catch22 Newport Primary, we can proudly share that we are a part of the UNICEFs Rights Respecting School initiative and we have successfully achieved the first stage of the RSSA. We are now Bronze: Rights Committed.

 

 

What is a Rights Respecting School?

 

A Rights Respecting School Award is an initiative run by UNICEF, UK.  The initiative encourages schools to embed the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child within their ethos and curriculum.

What is the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child?

 

The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) is a Human Rights Treaty.  It has 54 articles that sets out the Civil, Political, Economic, Social, Health and Cultural rights of children.  The Convention defines a child as a person under the age of eighteen years.  The nations that ratify this Convention are bound to it by International Law.
